Oracle’s Discoverer was designed as a smart ad hoc query and analysis reporting tool for business system applications. When Oracle released a public statement in January 2009 encouraging its users to migrate from Discoverer, it left a big question mark within the Discoverer user community. Changing your reporting solution isn’t an easy decision. If your business is still using Discoverer for ad hoc and operational reporting in Oracle E-Business Suite and/or custom database applications, here is why you need to migrate:

  • Premier Support is no longer available for Discoverer.
  • Discoverer does not integrate with Oracle Concurrent Manager.
  • Better ad hoc reporting analysis tools are now available in the market.
  • The last version of Discoverer was released in 2009 and Oracle has stated it has no plans to enhance the tool in the future. Extended Support for Discoverer will end on June 30, 2017.
