Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) is one of the reporting tools available with Oracle Cloud ERP Applications (Fusion) and is built on the Oracle BI platform. Being a part of the Oracle Cloud Apps licenses, it is integral to the platform and does not need additional setup.
OTBI along with BI Publisher features out-of-the-box reports and offers customizations. Its Application Composer tool enables the creation of custom fields with a simple drag and drop function and has real-time reporting capabilities.
OTBI Limitations
Despite its many advantages, OTBI also has certain limitations, compelling businesses to seek alternative solutions. Some of the key limitations of OTBI include:
- Being specifically created for Oracle Cloud Apps, it cannot pull out data from other sources with ease
- The analytics from OTBI is limited because it accesses only the Cloud Application database directly and neither has a data warehouse nor has access to historical data.
- OTBI RPD allows only minor customizations.
- The configuration parameter is possible only by submitting an SR to Oracle with a business justification.

Oracle Cloud ERP Financial Reporting using Orbit
GLSense for Financial Reporting lets businesses quickly build financial statements within Microsoft Excel and perform ad-hoc general ledger account analysis with the transactions posted to the right GL accounts.
