Oracle EBS Integration

Oracle E-Business SuiteAs an Oracle Platinum Partner, Orbit Reporting and Analytics seamlessly integrates with Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and comes with more than 1,000 pre-built reports for Oracle Financials, Supply Chain, and HCM applications. With just a few clicks, you can run operational and ad hoc reports, view dashboards, create visualizations, and drill down for the information that you need to make smart business decisions – without writing a single line of code.

Unlock the Full Potential of Your Oracle EBS Data

A core purpose of your company’s Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) system is to streamline processes and information across your enterprise. However, both business and IT users complain about the complexity and inflexibility when producing reports out of Oracle EBS.

Reporting tools, such as Oracle Discoverer and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), further contribute to this challenge. This complexity often forces users to rely on IT to build and modify their operational and ad hoc reports. In addition, they must constantly request report customizations to keep up with business needs. This creates an endless loop of IT backlog and long wait times for business users.

It is understandable if you’re hesitant about switching reporting platforms or adding new functionality to your existing Oracle EBS applications. You need to protect your data security while ensuring that employees have the necessary information to make important business decisions.

And, as many companies can attest, migrating to some third-party applications for EBS reporting is a complex undertaking. For example, most tools don’t come with Oracle EBS data models and views, thus requiring your IT staff to rebuild all of your existing EBS reports from scratch. Your IT team also needs to create and maintain security rules in the third-party tool. If your internal teams are at capacity, you can’t afford to direct your limited resources to this time-consuming work.

As an Oracle Platinum Partner, Orbit Reporting and Analytics fully integrates with Oracle EBS and your other data sources. When you embed Orbit into EBS, you can gain a detailed view of every aspect of your business. You will also take advantage of self-service reporting. Run any operational or ad hoc report directly from EBS – in just a few clicks and without requiring IT support.

Complete, Built-in Integration with Oracle EBS

Orbit uses the same security definitions as Oracle EBS. That means that all your EBS Responsibilities and Users automatically sync with Orbit – ensuring that users only see data in Orbit that they are authorized to see in Oracle EBS. In addition, Orbit integrates List of Values (LOVs), Descriptive Flexfields (DFFs) and KeyFlexfields (KFFs) from Oracle EBS automatically.

Orbit is certified to work with Oracle EBS versions 12.1.3 to 12.2.6. You can have continued peace of mind that Orbit will remain certified as you upgrade your Oracle EBS application or database in the future.

Automatically Convert Your Discoverer Reports

As of June 2017, Oracle discontinued support for its ad hoc reporting tool, Discoverer. With Orbit, you don’t need to worry about the future of your operational and ad hoc reporting – even if you have thousands of Discoverer reports. Orbit offers a free Discoverer Migration Assistant that automatically converts your existing Discoverer reports, so you can maintain access and continue to use these reports in Orbit.

Accelerate Your Reporting with Orbit’s Pre-Built EBS Reports

With Orbit, you don’t need to recreate the wheel and create reports from scratch. Orbit includes more than 1,000 pre-built reports that are certified for Oracle EBS. These reports cover key areas, including Oracle Financials, Supply Chain, and HCM.

View these reports in a variety of ways, including graphs, charts, pivots, and web-based tabular output. You can also easily customize any report to meet your needs. Then, you can export your reports to Excel files, PDFs, or other user-friendly formats.

Quickly Visualize Data for Improved Decision-Making

Orbit’s self-service user interface guides you through the process of building new reports and dashboards. You can create simple reports, as well as advanced analytical reports that are based on complex conditions and aggregations, without writing a single line of code. User-friendly visuals help you answer critical business questions and keep an eye on important metrics.

In just a few clicks, you can create charts, graphs, maps, and other visuals that combine data from multiple applications. Then, you can click each visual to drill down to the lowest level of detail. This helps you quickly spot trends, patterns, or anomalies.

Simplify the Running, Creation, and Maintenance of Oracle Financial Statements

Orbit includes an Excel-based reporting tool for finance professionals who use Oracle EBS. It syncs with Oracle General Ledger and sub-ledger applications, so you can create real-time Financial Statements in minutes. Orbit FSG allows you to:

  • Access live financial data on demand, for fast and accurate reporting.
  • Drill down from GL Balances to appropriate sub-ledger transactions. Orbit FSG includes more than 100 subledger drill-down reports for modules such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Fixed Assets, Project Accounting, and more.
  • Import your existing Oracle FSGs from Oracle EBS to Orbit using a free migration assistant.

Keep Your Data Secure

You might be hesitant to switch reporting platforms or add functionality to your existing EBS applications. Any change to your technology could result in security gaps that leave you vulnerable to threats.

Orbit leverages the same security features as Oracle EBS. When a user logs into Orbit, they will need to enter their EBS credentials. This ensures that they only see data that is relevant to their role.

Orbit also automatically syncs your roles. If you change a role in EBS, Orbit will update it in real time – giving you tight control over who accesses your data and what can they see.

Retain Your On-Premise EBS Investment While Adding the Power of Cloud Applications

Companies that complement their on-premise EBS system with Oracle cloud-based applications, such as Fusion or Taleo, often face a common reporting challenge – their ERP, HR, payroll, and finance data may not be well integrated.

Orbit brings this important data together by integrating your Oracle cloud and on-premise EBS applications. This allows you to quickly access data from different areas of your business, so you can reduce the risk of making decisions that are based on a partial view of your operations.

Automate Oracle Payroll Patch Impact Testing

Oracle recommends that you thoroughly test your Oracle Payroll application whenever you change any setups, modify your fastformulas, or apply new patches.

This usually requires you to spend several days running payroll and post-payroll processes, as well as manually comparing reports before and after applying a patch. This is not only inefficient but lends itself to human errors that can cause you to overpay or underpay employees.

Orbit uses automated processes to pinpoint any discrepancies caused by setup changes or patches. This streamlines your patch impact testing and makes your company more efficient. For example, Orbit’s automated processes can reduce your payroll testing time from days to just hours.

Orbit in Action: Scottish Natural Heritage

Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) strives to promote, care for, and improve Scotland’s huge diversity of natural landscapes, habitats and wildlife.

For SNH, business reporting is about much more than achieving operational efficiency. Their business intelligence requirements cover environmental, project, finance, people, and asset management.

SNH had used Oracle Discoverer for this critical function. But when Discoverer reached its end-of-life, SNH needed a replacement that would work with both Oracle E-Business Suite and their custom database applications.

SNH had sized up Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition but found it too complicated, expensive, and difficult to implement. SNH completed a successful proof-of-concept with Orbit. The organization selected Orbit for its ability to integrate with both Oracle EBS and custom applications, as well as quickly migrate Discoverer reports.

“The Orbit team demonstrated that even our most complex Discoverer reports could be imported and revised. They also proved that their product featured a user-friendly interface that would be able to create visually compelling ad hoc reports and dashboards for our in-house applications.”
